Organized by Iran’s Art and Experience Cinema and the Italian Embassy in Tehran, the weeklong Italian film program under the title ‘Spotlight on Italian Cinema’ was opened at the Iranian Artists Forum on February 20, 2020.
Among the guests in attendance were Italian Ambassador Giuseppe Perrone, the director of Iran’s Art and Experience Cinema Institute, Jafar Sanei Moqhaddam as well as a number of Iranian cultural officials and cineastes.
The opening film of the ceremony was Vincenzo Marra’s ‘Equilibrium’ which was followed by a review session where the director and Iranian actor Babak Karimi were also present.
A lineup of seven Italian movies are scheduled to screen during the program, including ‘The Path of Oil’ by Bernardo Bertolucci, ‘My Mother’ by Nanni Moretti and ‘Martin Eden’ by Pietro Marcello.
The list goes on with ‘Where the Shadows Fall’ by Valentina Pedicini, ‘Intrepid: A Lonely Hero’ by Gianni Amelio and ‘Happy as Lazzaro’ by Alice Rohrwacher.
The sideline of the festival will also host filmmaking workshops by Italian producer Sergio Toffetti.
The event is to run through February 26 in three Iranian cities of Tehran, Shiraz and Kish Island.
